Life outside of research.
I love to adventure and explore new places with my significant other — light hiking, skiing, and caving are some favorites. I also enjoy video games, reading, cooking, and mixology. I’m always looking for a new hobby to fall into.

Undergrad
I grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan and studied Computer Science at Grand Valley State University. I originally planned on going into industry, but a research project at the Applied Computing Institute under Dr. Zachary DeBruine changed that — we worked on matrix factorization and then sparse compression of single-cell data. That project gave me a collaborator and friend in Seth Wolfgang, two great mentors in Drs. DeBruine and Erin Carrier, and a genuine love for research.
